THE LONGEST SUNDAY CONTINUED

As promised Mario arrived at 2 pm.

Beanie said the car was nice, or something.

Mario said, "Oh, I borrowed this car for today. I ride the bus or bike everywhere I go.  We are middle class people not rich like the senoras." We began our short journey to the older sister's home for the picnic.

"Oh, Mario...we are middle class, too.  It is true that I have come into a great deal of money; but there is a stipulation that it can only be used for travel. Our every day lives in Memphis are middle class." (a necessary fib, because I could never explain about monopoly money!)

We took a route that drove by Mario's apartment where he lives with four students.

Then into the neighborhood where Margarita and her family live.
vWhen we arrived at Margerita's home, it seemed like a cast of thousands poured out of the house to welcome us!! Actually  there were nine members (four children) of the Mendoza family. Margerita and Mario's father (in mid-fifties) were in the yard cooking at the grill. Who would expect Mario Z's family to be any different?! Will tell about conversation and sumptuous food in next entry. Love, annie
