At last our plane landed in Barrow, Alaska at 7:30 pm,!!  It had been a long and uneventful day. I didn't make any friends at all; most of the passengers were business men studying papers from their briefcases. But I napped a lot so I would feel fresh when I saw Beanie who would want to talk half the night. The TOP OF THE WORLD MOTEL was a short walk from the airport. The business men were heading the same way. Walking beside me turned out to be the mayor!! Naturally I introduced myself and explained why I was in Barrow. He invited us to come by his office if we needed any help. Then a 4 wheeler picked him up for a ride to his home. I went in to the hotel.

Beanie was waiting in the warm lobby for me. We hugged gleefully like small children. "Beanie, shame on you!! Why in this world are you way up here?" She just smiled and said she would tell me over supper next door; it turns out I had heard about the restaurant on the Johnny Carson show years ago. I don't think Jeffrey will mind me showing his pics since I am not making any money from this!! PEPE'S NORTH OF THE BORDER RESTAURANT!! The food was just perfect for this cold night. I will tell you more about what Beanie explained is her reason for being here tomorrow. Needless to say that by midnight we both were exhausted and sleepy. Our room was nice, not like GRAND HOTEL in Oslo (where I had stayed just a few weeks ago) but nice enough. I worried about snoring until I noticed Beanie was snoring too! This would not be a luxury trip...but a fascinating one, nevertheless. WELCOME TO BARROW....back soon!! annie
